Novel Akzo Nobel surfactants

Akzo Nobel is presently developing surfactants that inhibit Ca-Naphthenate scale formation at the oil/water interface.

Formation of Ca-Naphthenates

Offshore oil production from formations where the crude contains acids can suffer from severe problems with formation of Ca-Naphthenates in e.g. separators. The resulting scales and deposits often leads to production losses.

Environmental restrictions

The new surfactant chemistry can get approval for use in the North Sea.
