New Morwet Naphthalene Sulfonate Condensate Dispersant for SC, WP and WDG formulations
- Dan Haggard, Powder Technology Lab
Naphthalene sulfonate condensates have been used successfully in dry formulations and suspension concentrates for many years. AkzoNobel’s Morwet® D-425™ is the “benchmark” dispersant for a wide range of difficult dry applications and technicals. Formulators have used Morwet® D-425 successfully even when all others options have failed. Today, AkzoNobel research is introducing the next generation of naphthalene sulfonate condensate: Morwet® D-809.
Morwet® D-809 offers superior dispersant performance with a range of representative formulation types; SC, WP, and WDG. The new dispersant allows the agro formulator to use less dispersant and achieves better suspensibility performance. Morwet® D-809 will perform better with technicals even with less dispersant. In many applications Morwet® D-809 is more hard water tolerant than other naphthalene sulfonate condensates.
A number of agricultural active technical materials have been evaluated for suspensibility performance SC, WP, and WDG formulations. The suspensibility performance is determined using the CIPAC MT-15 under the conditions of 1000 ppm water at RT. The Morwet® D-809 clearly showed advantages. Rheological studies also supported Morwet® D-809’s enhanced performance. Morwet® D-809 is EPA exempt.
In conclusion, Morwet® D-809 brings superior performance at lower use levels while demonstrating excellent hard water tolerance. Alongside Morwet® D-425, Morwet® D-809 dispersant is a great addition to the formulator’s toolbox.
